description: The Epaulet is a student-funded literary magazine that began publication in 1940, under the sponsorship of the head of the English Department. Until 1968, the Epaulet was published three times a year, with an occasional summer issue also printed. The motto of the Epaulet was, "Not words, but thoughts and the manner of expressing them make literature."
