Digital Accessibility

Simpson Library is committed to providing accessible digital content to the greatest extent possible. As a public university in the state of Virginia, we are required to provide accessible digital content by Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Accordingly, Simpson Library uses WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines as a baseline for determining web and digital accessibility. While we cannot guarantee that every resource at Simpson Library will be fully accessible, we are working toward this goal with our vendors and other internal and external partners. Currently, users can expect to find text documents that are full-text searchable (completed with OCR software), videos with captions, audio with transcripts, and images with descriptions. Library staff have also identified priority collections for remediation.

If additional accessibility features are needed to access an item in this collection, please contact Special Collections staff. Staff will respond to your request within two business days. Please also visit the Simpson Library Accessibility Resource Guide for more information.
